legal
terms of service
effective 1 July 2026
1. acceptance of terms
By accessing or using CareerScore (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these Terms at any time; continued use constitutes acceptance of any changes.
2. description of service
CareerScore provides a domain-aware, evidence-based career scoring platform for tech talent. The Service extracts structured facts from documents you upload (CV, LinkedIn export), cross-references those claims against public data sources, and produces a score and evidence passport. All scores are estimations and do not constitute employment guarantees, references, or professional assessments.
3. eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using it you represent that you meet this requirement and that all information you provide is accurate.
4. your data & uploaded documents
- CV / LinkedIn export: Documents you upload are sent to our extraction pipeline (OCR + LLM) and are not stored server-side beyond the lifetime of the request. Extracted structured facts are stored in your browser session and, if you create an account, in your Supabase profile.
- Proof documents: Documents attached to specific claims (offer letters, transcripts, etc.) are processed for verification and are not retained.
- GitHub: When you grant OAuth access, we inspect repository metadata (README presence, test files, CI, star count, language composition). We do not read your source code contents.
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload any document. Do not upload documents containing another person's personal information without their consent.
5. scoring methodology disclaimer
CareerScore uses a deterministic, norm-referenced scoring engine. Scores are calibrated against peer cohorts and are updated as the methodology evolves. A score is an estimation of demonstrated evidence, not an objective measure of talent or potential. We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of any score for any particular purpose, including hiring decisions.
CareerScore scores must never be the sole basis for a hiring decision. Employers using our Partner API are contractually required to treat scores as one input among many and to apply their own human judgement.
6. prohibited uses
You agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or manipulate the scoring algorithm.
- Use the Service to discriminate against candidates on the basis of any protected characteristic.
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data from the Service.
- Use the API for purposes other than those agreed in your Partner agreement.
- Introduce malware, prompt-injection, or adversarial content into uploaded documents.
7. intellectual property
The CareerScore platform, brand, scoring methodology, and all software are the exclusive property of CareerScore. Nothing in these Terms grants you a licence to reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our IP without explicit written permission.
You retain ownership of any content you upload. By uploading, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process that content solely to provide the Service.
8. third-party services
The Service integrates with third-party APIs (including DeepSeek, Firecrawl, OCR.space, GitHub, Supabase, Upstash). Your use of these integrations is also governed by the respective third party's terms. We are not responsible for third-party service outages or changes.
9. limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CareerScore is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or £50 if you have paid nothing).
10. termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. You may delete your account at any time by emailing careerscore@getscore.com.
11. governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
